The county 'Gotlands län' is made up of the main island and several smaller ones including Fårön, Gotska Sandön, and Karlsö.  Gotland is easily reached by plane or there is a car ferry running from mainland Sweden (Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn) to Gotland. It is truly unique and has one of the prettiest ‘old town’ areas there is; so unique that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site… and the reason for that is apparent with any visit to the wonderful city. The beautiful Ringmuren (the wall around the town) was build in the 13th century incorporates over 40 turreted towers and stretches over 5 kilometres around the port city.

Raukar (limestone stacks) at Langhammars Faro (Fårö)  Gotland Sweden (Gotland  Sverige)Fårö (Gotland Sweden) is an island on the northern tip of Gotland and is easily reached by ferry. While it is only about 5 minutes by ferry, the island is very different to the rest of Gotland. Faro is the famous home of the late Ingmar Bergman; world famous Swedish movie director, writer and producer of film, stage and television. Fårö is also famous for the Raukar (limestone sea-stacks) that line the north coast that provide an amazing site and are beautifully complimented by the man-made cairns. Gotland is easily reached by plane or there is a car ferry running from mainland Sweden (Nynäshamn or Oskarshamn) to Gotland (Visby)

Sundsvall, Medelpad, Northern Sweden, SverigeSundsvall hosts one of the prettiest town centres there is; though not by original design as the town. Sundsvall, which was first chartered in the early 1600's, has experience several devastating fires but like a phoenix, Sundsvall rose out of the ashes and the beautiful architecture of the town is the result of rebuilding after the 1888 fire.

Sundsvall is the capital of Norrland and is beautifully set on the Selångerån River between two hills, Norra Berget (North Mountain) and Södra Berget. Sundsvall grew as a centre for the Swedish forestry industry and town is reputed to be where Swedish industrialisation started with the introduction of steam powered saw mills.

The efficiency by which it transports people around the city is the envy of other international cities; not only is it well planned but the beautiful architecture (mostly Art Nouveau) of the stations makes a trip on the Paris Metro a must for any visitor to Paris.

Melbourne

Melbourne, the food and fashion capital of Australia, presents the visitor with a myriad of things to do and see; and many unique vistas for the photographer. Much is made if its rivalry with its northern cousin Sydney but there really cannot be any comparisons as each city has its own unique qualities and stand on their own as marvellous Australia cities.

Melbourne presents itself as a very cosmopolitan city with a lovely multicultural fabric that makes the city of Melbourne a pleasure to visit and it is not only about sport. The European feel to the city (in a similar vein to Stockholm or Paris) with its restaurants cafes and wonderful laneways provides for a easy and pleasurable experience around the city as well as St Kilda, South Yarra and Carlton. Add to this that it is the fashion capital of Australia (not to mention the sports capital as well).

sydneySydney is one of those cities that as soon as you get a glimpse of the harbour that you know that you are in an international city; and like many other iconic cities (Paris - Stockholm etc) photography subjects are everywhere. The icon that is the Sydney Harbour Bridge presses that feeling home immediately as it is one of the worlds most recognised icons; whether it is bathed in fireworks on New Years Eve or just providing a back drop for the Harbour itself or the magnificent Sydney Opera House The Opera House is also one of those surreal experiences when you first lay your eyes on it.
