kangaroo valley southern highlandsLandscape photography is a passion of Simon’s and it is when he feels most grounded; it is something to do with the connectivity he feels for the landforms he visits.  Despite being born in the city (Melbourne) Simon has always had a passion for the Australian landscape; probably nurtured by a family property surrounded by the Red Gum forests of Mathoura (just north of the Murray River and Echuca)

While his body of work covers many photographic genres, it is landscape photography that nurtures his artistic soul; his drive comes from capturing something he loves and conveying that visual feeling to the viewer; thus place the viewer in the photographer’s place. That, he believes, is essence of landscape photography.  Having spent much of his formative years in the Riverina (Mathoura) just north of Echuca and the Murray River, he recognises a strong connection to the land and rivers of the Outback and he was fortunate to have been able to translate this into photography when he was commissioned to photograph Outback NSW with a focus on the iconic Darling River; a dream for any landscape photographer.

With brilliant lighting and careful settings, his photographs are both impressive and impressionistic; Simon imagery is characterised by a wonderful interest and understanding of landforms and geomorphology and he captures the beautiful landscape and seascapes with a timeless vision. A favourite credo of Simon's, and it is how he describes his work, is to 'specialise in diversity' as the multiplicity of subjects forces one out of the comfort zone and the elements of this can be applied to other types of photography. This application to his craft can be seen in the imagery of Sydney and Melbourne while further afield he enjoys returning the city that it all started with, Paris.

Landscape Photography, as wall art, is fast becoming a primary choice for design innovation for both domestic and corporate installation.  Fine art Landscape photography is the genre that Simon is most passionate about and provided the genesis to reignite his creative journey. Simon finds no greater way to nurturing the soul than to produce photographic art that satisfies his high personal standards but also is sought after by another to hang as wall art. Simon is passionate about landscape photography and has been capturing his wonderful landscapes and cityscapes for over 10 years with the intention of producing classic fine art landscape photography  and through that period he has established a reputation for producing quality photographic wall art.

Simon’s minimalist, open, style fine art landscape photography  is perfect for any decor or room and will virtually provide a 'window' of his landscape vision; taking the view the beautiful places he chooses to photograph. Rich and vivid colour landscape photography through to classic Black and white images has allowed his unique style of fine art landscape photography to develop. Simon is passionate about sharing his experience visually and as such maintains an photographic veracity so the resultant image relates to his interpretation of the landscape.

The image is telling the story and needs to be told truthfully and interpretively. The style of Simon's photography is to best reproduce his 'visual experience' of the landscapes he photographs and limits digital manipulation to that which has always been historically acceptable processes that are achievable in the darkroom. His desire is to reproduce the colours, textures, and tones of the actual scene; then use the metallic paper medium to best represent that experience and enable the purchaser of his artwork to best appreciate the creative reproduction for many years to come.

Stock photography is available for Victoria and New South Wales (Australia), The South Island of New Zealand, Stockholm, Gotland, Sundsvall and Östersund (Sweden – Sverige) and Paris in France. Over 1,000 stock photography images are available across a wide range of uses and should you require a stock photographer to source photographs specific to your requirements, Simon is available for explicit assignments. With 10 years experience in stock photography, Simon is available to discuss your photographic needs and with many years experience working specifically in the travel and tourism industry, Simon understands what is required when supplying images specific to client needs.

Sourcing stock photography can be very time consuming as many stock libraries contain too many ‘average’ images that seem to block the process of sourcing good images as more and more photographers churn photographs out. It should be about quality and not quantity; Simon adheres strictly to that credo as he will not put anything into the Lumieres Stock Library that he would not be happy to hang on his own wall.
