In 2001, I spent a total of 5 days riding from Chamonix to Amsterdam, which immediately touched my soul and was to catalyst that inspired me to return and investigate such an enigmatic and alluring country.

Feeling fenced-in by the congestion of the city and seeking holiday diversity from the north and south coasts? Are you and that trusty steed in the garage 'chomping at the bit' to do some real driving? Then load it up... head west and discover the real Australia! Sydney and Melbourne are fabulous Australia cities... but the real Australian landscape awaits.

I was recently gallery sitting and while I know it is something I enjoy - displaying my work and realising ... "hey this is my work.!"... sometimes I struggle,,, :)

But I am now realising that I am becoming a GOP, one of those 'Grumpy Older People'... something many friends and family have been saying but of course I am in complete denial and think I have the same exuberance for the general public that I had twenty years ago.

Accurate brand communication has never been more important; particularly when considering the growing use and effectiveness of online promotion and its contribution to tourism marketing. (Especially in this increasingly competitive market)

journey to france - netherlands: France was never an intended place to spend some serious time touring but after spending about 3 days in the summer of 2001, I vowed that I would return to really investigate the country that holds such allure for many people around the world.

After 6 weeks planning I was ready to embark on a trip of a lifetime on a Triumph Adventurer which I had already ridden from as far south as Crete (Greece) all the way up to Inverness in Scotland.

Some wise thoughts to those who inspire me:

Digital Photography & RAW:

What is RAW:

A RAW file is a Greyscale file and does not contain anything we humans can see as color as opposed to a TIFF or JEPEG which are ‘processed and contain the colour information required to view it.

The RAW file will also contain the interpretive 'information' (White Balance, Colorimetric interpretation, Gamma Correction, etc) and it is that which will be utilised by the camera or computer software converter to translate this data based on the characteristics of the color filter array (The sensor) 

europe by bike; a european adventure: For as long as I can remember, my father always said to take life by the horns and experience what there was on offer.  I suppose that is how I ended up in Edinburgh Scotland after riding around 10,000 miles from as far south as Crete and experiencing some absolutely fantastic countryside in Greece, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, England, Wales and Scotland.

journey to france - belgium: So, 6 days in The Netherlands and I am reminded that this is one of my favourite places; the country and its people...  just wonderful. But more adventures lay ahead and my destination with France.  My route to France takes to a few days in the city of Bruges in Belgium.

So leaving Amsterdam, I ride the trusty Triumph south west towards Zeeland but got lost around Maassluis; which many say is very easy to do, especially when you buy a compact map to try and save space.

I was recently updating my computer system and, like cleaning out a shed and seeing an old box in a sun-ray illuminated dusty corner, found some wonderful gems hidden amongst turn of the century digital clutter.

One such gem was a file, aptly named photog-elements.doc, contained the incomplete editing of copious amounts of information gleaned from hours of reading, googling, and trial & error shooting. Just like the Mark 6 Jaguar my father started to renovate back in the 1970's, every thing was there but it just need some dusting off and a bit of honing and it might still be usable.
